List of Essays and Tutorials by Shoshichi Kobayashi

An essay book (in Japanese) by Shoshichi Kobayashi entitled “Mathematicians Who Lost Their Faces—Essays in Idlenesson Mathematics” has been recently published posthumously by Iwanami Publisher. The author published several tutorial books, and undergraduate level textbooks, as well as 45 articles in Journal “Sugaku Seminar” (Nippon Hyoron sha Co. Ltd). If we include his articles published in other journals and book chapters, the number rises to 70. These articles are clearly a testimonial of his great zeal for contributing to the education and research of mathematics in Japan, and for the popularization of mathematics to the general public.

The list below is sorted in the reverse chronological order. The book titles and journal titles are italicized. If you are aware of any publication by Shoshichi Kobayashi, not listed here (or in the above URL), please let us know by contacting editoratShoshichiKobayashi.com. All articles below, except for Item 4 were written in Japanese. Items 22, 47, 69 and 70 are research papers, but are included here since they seem to be the only research papers published in Japanese. Here we show English translations of the titles only.
